Rapa Nui Reef is coming to waters off Deerfield Beach on Sunday, June 7, 2015. 15 sculptures modeled on the Easter Island Moai statues vary in size from 9 feet to 22 feet tall and are being created by artist Dennis MacDondald on top of a 150 foot long barge.
On Sunday, June 7 the barge will travel down the intracoastal and then out into the ocean about a mile off the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier. There it will be sunk in about 75 feet of water to the floor of the ocean where it will form the Rapa Nui Reef. This incredible underwater art garden will attract drivers from around the word to Deerfield Beach.
